On Sunday, Wydad held Tunisian outfit Club Africain to a 1-1 draw in an exhibition match ahead of the 2024/25 campaign, but it was not the result that caught the fans' attention.
According to a report from Moroccan publication LeSiteInfo, Wydad supporters in attendance at the friendly match greatly appreciated the team's performance and style of play.
It is noted that, under Mokwena, the Red Castle are playing in a very different way compared to past seasons, with the side preferring to keep the ball and move it around instead of using long balls as a means to get up the field.
While the direct approach to attack has brought Wydad success in the past, supporters are said to be optimistic about the football they are seeing from their team these days.
Mokwena earned significant praise in South Africa for his progressive tactical style, which helped him secure a number of trophies during his time at Mamelodi Sundowns.
His success in Mzansi reportedly attracted attention from multiple clubs outside of the country, but it was Wydad that acted quickest when he became available in July.
