On Thursday evening, the official draw for the revamped Club World Cup took place, and all four participating African clubs discovered their fate for when they touch down in the United States.
While it will likely be a difficult test for all CAF's representatives, the Moroccan juggernauts are perhaps the club with the toughest group, having been pitted against reigning English champions City, record Serie A winners Juventus and United Arab Emirates giants Al Ain.
Former star of the Red Castle, Abdeladim Khadrouf, has stated that the 32-team global spectacle will be crazy for the North African champions, especially as Mokwena will be coming up against a manager he admires in Guardiola.
"The 2025 World Cup will be crazy, and it is a stage for the elite clubs around the world, and we must prepare well for it," the nine-capped Moroccan international told Kooora.
"I know very well what it means to participate in this type of international competition, and Wydad is in a strong group.
"Manchester City inspires Mokwena, the Wydad coach, and Juventus also came back from far in the Italian league.
"I participated in the World Cup in the Emirates, but the next edition in America seems crazy and exciting, as there is a golden shield, elite clubs, and World Cup stadiums.
