The Blood and Gold are in South Africa and have begun preparations for their first-ever knockout stage match in the Champions League in the country against Masandawana.

Standing in their way of a place in the competition final and, consequently, a ticket to the FIFA Club World Cup next year are Rulani Mokwena's charges.

Sundowns are not only yet to taste a defeat at Loftus Versfeld in Africa's premier club competition this season, but are yet to concede a goal at home in the tournament too.

Esperance attacker Oussema Bouguerra has acknowledged the threat the DStv Premiership champions present ahead of the second leg of their CAFCL semi-final on Friday, but also claimed that the Tunisian giants have one major factor to their advantage: their heritage in the competition.

"We know that Sundowns is not an easy team, but Esperance has a history in the African Champions League," the Carthage Eagles representative told members of the media.

Bouguerra, who is playing his first campaign with the record Tunisian champions, also revealed what it has been like playing for the north African giants and how they plan to navigate the second leg in Pretoria.

"I came to a big team like Esperance that competes for all local and continental titles, and things were good for me with the team there is very great support for us from the public as well as from the administration," he added.

"We must give everything we can. We have this match in order to qualify for the final  each match has its own circumstances, but we know very well how to play the next match. We had to score more than one goal against Sundowns in the first leg, but we played the match without recklessness so as not to cause an adverse result."
