Today, we take a look at some of the worse injuries suffered in football… WARNING: This is not for the faint hearted.
Marcin Wasilewski
Polish defender, Wasilewski, suffered a painful double-leg break in his Anderlecht team's league match against Standard Liege courtesy of an Axel Witsel stamp, which saw the Belgian midfielder banned for eight months.
Djibril Cisse
Cisse must be the unluckiest man to ever step onto the pitch. He broke both of his legs in the middle of a game, once against Blackburn while playing for Liverpool and, again, two years later while playing for France against China. Both breaks kept him out of action for seven months.
Aaron Ramsey
Arsenal snatched up Aaron Ramsey from Cardiff when he was just 17 and he looked destined for great things befor Ryan Shawcross broke his leg with an aggressive tackle, which kept him out of action for nine months. Fortunately Ramsey is back and is still a great talent.
Petr Cech
In 2006, Chelsea's goalkeeper Petr Cech suffered a severe concussion after being kicked on the head while picking up a ball from Reading striker Aaron Hunt's feet. The injury was life-threatening and he bears the scars of it to this day when he marches onto this pitch in his signature "scrum-cap" protective gear.
David Busst
In April 1996, Coventry City player, David Busst suffered what was easily the most horrific on pitch injury ever against Manchester United, when he had his leg broken to the point that the fractured bone pierced his skin and left blood everywhere. His leg almost had to be amputated and he never played football again. Manchester United's Peter Schmeichel was actually put through psychological help to get over the horror of witnessing Denis Irwin's challenge.
These injuries were all just horrible. I hope none of my players ever go through that!
