In another debatable topic, the Fan Park Crew looks at Brazilian legend, Ronaldinho, and French star, Zinedine Zidane, and we discuss who may have been the best to watch. Forget about stats, we're talking entertainment.
Zinedine Zidane
We saw how he passed a football, we drooled at his intricate touches, and we witnessed his creative genius. The French star is undoubtedly one of the best ever footballers.
Here are just a few things said about Zidane.
It's a simple quote, but a great tribute to a fantastic player from Zlatan Ibrahimovic in 2012:
"Zidane was from another planet. When Zidane stepped onto the pitch, the 10 other guys just got suddenly better. It is that simple"
Another strong testament to a great player, Edgar Davids offered his thoughts on the legendary midfielder in 2000:
"He thinks in one second and does it the next. He is a special player, one who is original and exceptional. He creates space where there is none. No matter where he gets the ball or how it comes to him, Zidane can get out of trouble. His imagination and his technique are amazing."
Zidane continued to provide us with entertainment right up until his last match, where he was sent off for an infamous head-butt on Italian defender, Marco Materazzi, in the 2006 World Cup final.
Ronaldinho
An absolute pleasure to watch, Ronaldinho ensured that you had your eyes glued to your TV screen with his football brilliance. He never worried about what he was winning, or how he'd just made the biggest fool out of one the world's best defenders - he just played. He smiled like no other on the field, and mesmerised fans worldwide.
Here are some things that have been said about the former Barcelona player.
Former teammate, Lionel Messi, said:
"He was a great help. It's never easy to go into a changing room at the age of 16 especially with my character. Ronaldinho made everything much easier for me. I had the good luck to experience him at first hand and to share many things with him. I can say that he's a really great person and that's the most important thing."
Henrik Larson said:
"The greatest player I played with has to be Ronaldinho"
Ronaldinho has scored a total of 183 club goals in his career, and has assisted 124 for teammates – being the unselfish star that he is.
Who entertained you best, Zidane or Ronaldinho?
