The story
Stellenbosch FC will be out to make history in Saturday's MTN8 final at the Moses Mabhida Stadium, where they'll have the mighty task of dethroning defending champs, Orlando Pirates.
As one of Steve Barker's key players, New Zealand international Andre de Jong will look to put on an inspired performance in the heart of Stellies' attack.
During a quick QA session with Cape Town Spurs midfielder and content creator, Michael Morton, de Jong revealed that his former teammate Tapelo Xoki is the toughest defender he's faced in South Africa.
"Just because I roomed with him for a couple of seasons [at AmaZulu] I thought he was going to be my friend on the field and then the next thing, he's headbutting me at the back of my head," laughs the 27-year-old, recalling Xoki giving him a tough time on the field.
The Kiwi baller shouted out Mesut Özil as his football role model growing up and will hope to create magic in the 10 role for Stellies, just like German did for Arsenal and Real Madrid at his peak.
De Jong also named FNB Stadium as the best stadium he's played in and hailed Bafana Bafana legend Tsepo Masilela as the best player he's played with and believes teammate Sage Stephens underrated.
