Ronaldo And Other Angry Footballers

Ronaldo And Other Angry Footballers

Today, the Fan Park crew takes a look at some of the most intense moments from over the years where players have lost their cool in the heat of the moment.

Cristiano Ronaldo (Real Madrid v Cordoba - 2015)

This weekend, Cristiano Ronaldo kicked out at Cordoba left-back, Edimar, after growing frustrated with his team's performance. The game was level at 1-1 and the three-time Ballon d'Or winner was visibly upset with his team's performance. He also elbowed another Cordoba player in the face, but was immediately giving his marching orders.

Zinedine Zidane (France v Italy - 2006)

In the 2006 World Cup final, the game was tied 1-1 and had gone to extra time. After a French corner, their talismanic captain, Zinedine Zidane was subjected to insults from Italian defender, Marco Materazzi, who called his sister a "terrorist wh***". Zidane did not take the words well and head-butted Materazzi in the chest, which eventually saw him sent off the pitch.

Eric Cantona (Manchester United v Crystal Palace – 1995)

Almost 20 years ago to the day, Eric Cantona was substituted in Manchester United's Premier League match against Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park. As he was walking off, a fan insulted him and the Frenchman saw red… He ran up to the stands and kung-fu kicked the fan. Cantona was banned for nine months for a moment of rage that few football fans will ever forget.

Pepe (Real Madrid v Getafe – 2009)

In the 2008/09 La Liga title race's run-in, Real Madrid were level with Getafe in a tough fixture at the Bernabeau. Getafe's Javier Casquero went down in the box, which did not please a very frustrated Pepe, who kicked him several times on the ground in one of the craziest moments football has ever seen. He was red carded and handed a six-match ban.

Morgan Gould (Kaizer Chiefs v Wits – 2013)

In  November 2013, Morgan Gould was involved in a rare incident where he punched Bidvest Wits' Getaneh Kebede in the face while attempting to win the ball just outside of the box. The left hook left Kebede dazed and confused and the referee, who didn't properly see the incident, let the 'foul' go unpunished.

These are some of the craziest moments in our opinion.

Which moment do you think was the greatest?
