The story
While UEFA Euro 2024 firmly places focus on European nations and players, there's plenty of African flair that will be showcased over the course of the tournament in Germany.
The likes of England's Bukayo Saka and Kobbie Mainoo have Nigerian and Ghanian parents with in Saka being born in London and Mainoo in Stockport.
Saka could have represented Nigeria's Super Eagles due to his family heritage, but opted for England instead, and has racked up 33 caps for the three lions.
"I feel like I'm really, proud of my Nigerian heritage. I always still watch Nigeria's games where I can and I wish them all the best and support them all the way," Saka told SuperSport, further explaining:
"But I've seen the process of how England are transforming, and I think in the future they're going to do great stuff. I feel like it was right for me to choose England."
Les Bleus, who are major hopefuls for this tournament, have Kylian Mbappe leading them to war. The French superstar has both Cameroonian and Algerian descent.
Mbappe is joined by Eduardo Camavinga, N'golo Kante, Ibrahim Konate and Aurelian Tchouameni, who have Angolan, Malian, and Cameroonian blood respectively.
