Former Kaizer Chiefs defender Tefu Mashamaite has explained how it would help the club if they were to qualify for one of the CAF competitions.
Qualifying for one of the CAF competitions will no doubt come with obstacles and, at the same time, coach Nasreddine Nabi will need to ensure the club is challenging for titles on the domestic front.

Amakhosi can qualify for the CAF Confederation Cup via the Betway Premiership or Nedbank Cup. They are in eighth place on 28 points in the league and in the semi-final of the cup, so there is still a lot to play for. But qualifying for a CAF competition will come with its challenges. These, according to Mashamaite, are challenges they should embrace.
"It's quite a tricky one, but I feel like it can be a positive for them to go play in continental competition because that's the type of exposure your players need in order for them to grow in the long-term. You look at the number of youngsters they have and the building aspect of going into those competitions. That experience can fast track their growth and their maturity," Mashamaite said to the Siya crew.
"The reason why Sundowns are so far ahead is because they have been playing in the continental competitions for about 10 years. It could be another factor or aspect that can help the youngsters at Chiefs to grow. I don't think qualifying for the CAF competitions will hamper the building part."
What's important, Mashamaite believes, is for the Amakhosi management to add quality players to ensure they have enough to compete on all fronts.

"I think it's down to management to give the coach more depth in the squad by signing more players. They need to sign quality and enable the team to have the capacity to travel and come back and play domestically."
