The Argentine attacker now finds himself in the second division of the oil-rich kingdom courtesy of ex-Usuthu head coach Pablo Franco.
It is believed that the Spanish tactician has been a massive admirer of the former Stellenbosch FC talisman, and after the 31-year-old recently saw his contract with Volos NPS in Greece terminated, Franco signed Mendieta to help his side survive relegation.
Both men are at Al-Faisaly FC, but the Corrientes native has needed little time to adapt, as in his second start for his new side, he found the back of the net.
The versatile attacker scored an overhead kick in the 80th minute of their latest encounter against Al-Jubail, but the joy was short-lived as their opponents equalised in the 89th minute.
It has dented Al-Faisaly's hopes of escaping the relegation zone in the immediate future, as they are one point away from their nearest rivals, having played a game more.

Mendieta was contributing to goals on a regular basis while in Greece, scoring five goals and assisting one in the 15 games he played. It seems he is keen to carry this form into his new club, having scored in his second start.
