Belouizdad parted ways with their former boss, Abdelkader Amrani, towards the end of last month after his failure to qualify for the CAF Champions League quarter-finals.

Amrani was immediately replaced by Samir Houhou, who stepped into the role as caretaker coach.
Now, reports suggest that Belouizdad are getting closer to appointing a new permanent coach, with talks already underway.
According to Algerian publication El Khabar, Belouizdad are in advanced negotiations with former Mauritania national team coach Amir Abdou.
Abdou himself has been without a job since November 2024, when he parted ways with Mauritania following their failure to qualify for the 2025 Africa Cup of Nations.
Abdou received a lot of praise after Mauritania's historic performance at AFCON 2023.
The tactician became the first coach to lead Mauritania to the round of 16 at AFCON after claiming a monumental victory over Algeria in the group stages.
Born in Comoros, Abdou also previously coached FC Nouadhibou, while his record for Mauritania stands at 32 matches, 12 victories, seven draws, and 13 defeats, according to Transfermarkt.
