A European star who recently had an underwhelming spell at Al Ahly has joined a new club in Spain's third tier just seven months after being released by the Egyptian giants.
French striker Anthony Modeste lasted just one season at Al Ahly despite arriving with huge expectations.
The centre-forward joined the Red Devils in September 2023 immediately after a stint in the Bundesliga with Borussia Dortmund.

In July 2024, Modeste left Al Ahly having registered just six goals in 31 matches, which was followed by a seven-month spell without a club, according to Transfermarkt.
Now, Modeste has officially joined Spanish third-tier side CF Intercity until June 2025.
A statement on Intercity's official website reads:
"CF Intercity has reached an agreement for French striker Anthony Modeste (Cannes, 14/04/1988) to reinforce the Alicante club.
"Former footballer of Hoffenheim, Cologne or Borussia Dortmund, among other teams, arrives in Alicante from Al-Ahly, Egyptian and African champion.
"The new Intercity striker signed for Borussia Dortmund in the 22/23 season, replacing Sebastien Haller, who was diagnosed with a serious illness.
"Modeste was chosen by Borussia to replace Haller after his good season with Cologne (21/22), with which he scored 20 goals in 32 games, in what was his second-best scoring campaign in the Bundesliga.
"This season Modeste helped Cologne to a seventh-place finish in the Bundesliga and qualify for the UEFA Europa Conference League. His best scoring season was also with Cologne, in the 2015/16 campaign, in which he scored 25 goals in 34 games.
"Modeste has played for France's youth teams and has also played for Girondins, Blackburn Rovers, Nice, Bastia, Hoffenheim and Tianjin Quanjian, always in the best European competitions and at the highest level."
