Earlier this week, it was confirmed by the Riyadh-based outfit that they and the 32-year-old attacker had agreed to terminate his contract after what was an injury-plagued tenure with the Blue Wave.
For the first time in his career, Brazil's all-time record goalscorer is officially a free agent, meaning he can choose whichever club he wants to sign with next.
Recently, Barcelona sporting director Deco revealed that the Blaugrana would be open to welcoming the superstar forward back to the club, but it seems that all signs are pointing to Neymar joining another one of his former sides, Santos.
The Mogi das Cruzes native became a household name during his formative years with the Alvinegro, helping them win their first Copa Libertadores in 48 years when he lifted the title in 2011.
These achievements, coupled with 136 goals in 225 matches for the Peixe, earned him a big-money move to Camp Nou in 2013. However, almost 12 years later, it seems he is poised for a remarkable return to Santos, and club president Marcelo Teixeira took to social media to welcome the decorated forward back to Sao Paulo.
"It is the time (to come back), Neymar. It is time for you to come back to your people. To our home, to the club in our hearts," Teixeira said on his social media channels, as per ESPN.
