This decision brings an end to a turbulent spell in Riyadh for the 32-year-old. After joining Al Hilal for a reported €90 million (R1.7 billion) transfer fee from Paris Saint-Germain and earning an annual salary of approximately €100 million (R1.9 billion), Neymar only made seven appearances for the club.
An official statement from the Saudi Pro League champions read: "Al Hilal Company and Neymar Jr. have agreed to terminate their contractual relationship by mutual consent. The club expresses its thanks and appreciation to Neymar for what he has provided throughout his career with Al Hilal, and wish the player success in his career."
Brazil's all-time leading goalscorer struggled during his time in Saudi Arabia, with injuries severely hampering his impact. An anterior cruciate ligament injury was the most significant setback he faced during his stint with the Blue Wave.
After returning from the injury earlier this season, Neymar managed just two substitute appearances, the last of which came in the AFC Champions League against Pitso Mosimane's Esteghlal FC. That match marked his final outing for the club, as he now begins his search for a new team.

Speculation has already linked Neymar with a return to his boyhood club, Santos, as his most likely destination. Meanwhile, Al Hilal are reportedly considering high-profile replacements, with names like Vinicius Junior and Mohamed Salah rumoured to be on their radar as potential additions to their star-studded squad.
