The nations that have booked their respective tickets to the continental showpiece in Morocco were confirmed on Tuesday evening as the final round of qualifiers came to an end during this international break.
Heading into the final day of qualification, only three spots remained. Guinea, who were quarter-finalists at the last edition of Africa's biggest tournament, needed to avoid defeat against Tanzania to qualify for a third successive AFCON.
However, the Taifa Stars had plans of their own, as a 61st-minute Simon Msuva header was enough to secure victory and a subsequent spot in North Africa next year.
Their participation in the competition will mark only their fourth appearance. Meanwhile, a team making just their second appearance will be Botswana. A 1-1 draw in Cairo was enough to see Morena Ramoreboli's charges qualify, finishing one point above Mauritania and four ahead of Cape Verde.
Another southern African side qualified on Tuesday as Mozambique's 2-1 victory over Guinea-Bissau ensured their place in the finals at the expense of their opponents.

The Mambas only needed a draw, but goals from Bruno Langa and Stanley Ratifo, scored either side of a Beto equaliser, ensured that as many as seven COSAFA nations made it to Africa's biggest tournament.
