After Rulani Mokwena left Ka Bo Yellow during the off-season, many names were linked with the then-vacant head coaching role at Chloorkop, including Patrice Carteron.
The Frenchman has been highly successful on the African continent, winning the 2014/15 CAF Champions League with TP Mazembe, claiming the Egyptian Premier League title with Zamalek during the 2020/21 campaign, and leading Mali to a third-place finish in the 2013 Africa Cup of Nations.
Ultimately, Masandawana decided to go in a different direction by appointing Manqoba Mngqithi, while Carteron continued his tenure with Umm Salal in Qatar.
However, it now seems that the Frenchman's time in the Qatar Stars League has come to an end, with reports claiming he has left his role as Barzan's Falcons boss.
According to Tehran Times, the Saint-Brieuc native already has another job lined up, as he is poised to be announced as Sepahan S.C.'s new head coach.
Carteron follows in the footsteps of Mosimane, who last month became Esteghlal FC's new manager.

Carteron was unable to lead Umm Salal to a league championship but may have a better chance of winning the Iranian top flight, as he is likely to take charge of a side currently sitting at the top of the Persian Gulf Pro League.
