Mofokeng, Nkota & Co: 'He Is A Gift From God'

Mofokeng, Nkota & Co: 'He Is A Gift From God'

Orlando Pirates youngsters appear to be leading their peers across the league with their contribution to the team's progress and success.

Following this past weekend's Carling Knockout Cup where Kaizer Chiefs were defeated by Mamelodi Sundowns 4-0 at FNB Stadium, Manqoba Mngqithi felt concerned that the Soweto giants might be expecting too much from their exciting youngsters to carry the team in the quest for an improved season under Nasreddine Nabi.

Mngqithi was referring to the likes of Mduduzi Shabalala, Wandile Duba and Mfundo Vilakazi who are some of the players who have been impressive for Amakhosi this season although the team's results have been disappointing in some instances.

On the other hand, Pirates youngsters like Relebohile Mofokeng and Mohau Nkota have appeared to have the upper hand as the Buccaneers have been getting results consistently, while having senior players around them also doing well.

The likes of Deon Hotto, Makhehleni Makhaula and Patrick Maswanganyi have managed to make the lives of Mofokeng, Nkota and Thalente Mbatha among others easy with their impressive performances as Bucs have already bagged a trophy with the MTN8 and are sitting at the top of the Betway Premiership standings.

Former Chiefs midfielder Junior Khanye has commended the Bucs youngsters with their performances although he feels Mofokeng stands head and shoulders above the rest when compared to his peers across the league.

"Mohau Nkota is a hard-working player, and he has got speed, and he has got power and balance. The boy can also kick with both feet. Relebohile Mofokeng is so talented, and he's got a big character. He is so matured and that's why I say he is a gift from God. He is a gift from God who has also been made complete with proper development that he received from a young age. That boy for me is Pirates, because of how influential he is in the team," said Khanye, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.

"Look at what he did last season when he came on in the latter stages of the game against Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup and won Pirates the trophy. It is not easy doing what he did and that isn't coaching. He used his skill to dribble past players and got the ball through (Bongani) Zungu's legs on his way to score a great goal, and that you can't tell me is coaching, it is individual brilliance. No one does those kinds of things overnight, but it's pure talent and brilliance. The boy is extremely talented," said Khanye.
