The story
Kaizer Chiefs defender, Inacio Miguel is going the extra mile to improve his performances on the pitch after making a decent start to his first season in the PSL.
The Angolan international posted a selfie on Instagram of his using a nebulizer, which seemingly alarmed some of his followers who assumed the defender is recovering from illness.
Miguel revealed that he's trying out Mild Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy (mHbOT), explaining to his fans that he's investing in his health and performance.
According to an article shared on the Portland Chiropractic Neurology's website, mHbOT is the medical use of oxygen in a pressurized environment.
The increased pressure allows for oxygen to dissolve and saturate more readily into the blood plasma (liquid component of blood) and all liquids within our bodies.
As per, Restore Hyper Wellness, mHbOT is described as modern medical therapy that not only helps enhance total well-being but is said to be ideal for individuals who are looking to speed up recovery, enhance cognitive function and reduce inflammation.
"This innovative therapy immerses individuals in a pressurized hyperbaric chamber where they can breathe 90-95% pure oxygen. This is a stark contrast to the mere 21% oxygen content of regular air.
"The pressurized mHbOT environment is also two to three times higher than normal, which facilitates heightened oxygen absorption by the lungs," noted Restore, a US-based wellness company.
