The story
Retired attacker, Thuso Phala expressed his love for one of his former clubs, the one that's closest to his heart, Kaizer Chiefs.
Although the peak of his playing days came during his time at Platinum Stars and SuperSport United, Phala is not shy to show pride in being an Amakhosi alumni.
The former Bafana Bafana international, who enjoyed a short stint at the Glamour Boys from 2007 until 2009, stated that no team should ever be compared to Chiefs.
"Phalaza" appeared on the KickOff Kulture Podcast and was asked to compare the working environment, structure, and professionalism levels at Chiefs and and another one of his former clubs, Mamelodi Sundowns.
"Don't compare any team to Chiefs," answered Phala without any hesitation. "In the country, I've been to Chiefs and Sundowns, I've seen Pirates, I've been around there and I know how they do stuff. But no team comes close to Chiefs," said the 38-year-old, adding,
"[It is] their support structure, how they do things, the organisation, how they treat their players, it's not just the [Kaizer Chiefs] Village. Everything is set, it's automatic."
Phala joined Masandawana in 2009, lasting only a year and a half before making the switch to the now defunct, Platinum Stars.
"I always say that Chiefs changed my life. My first day at Chiefs, I got a phone, I got a car, I got bank cards, I got bags, I got a house, I had everything. That would only happen at Chiefs.
"Chiefs will care about where you live, what you're driving, how you're getting to training, if you have a phone, if you go to gym, who cooks for you, where you do your shopping... that's Chiefs," shared Phala on the podcast.
