The story
Since making the move to Bloemfontein, Marumo Gallants have fully immersed themselves into the football culture in the Free State.
Over the weekend, Gallants not only overcame Polokwane City in the Carling Knockout Cup round of 16 with a 3-2 win, but also celebrated Bloemfontein Celtic's founding members.
Marumo Gallants officials joined their fans and OG Bloem Celtic supporters at the Football Heroes' Honouring Ceremony, hosted at the event held at Dr. Petrus Molemela Stadium on Sunday.
Bahlabane Ba Ntwa honoured one of Bloemfontein Celtic's founding fathers and legendary player, Norman Mathobisa, who passed away back in 2012.
Mathobisa's passion for sport and playing career inspired him to form Celtic in 1969, and was honoured at the ceremony alongside Victor Mahatanya (the last surviving founder), who was the co-director and chairman of the club.
The duo administered the club until the early 1970s and were forced to hand over the reins to Dr. Petrus Molemela, who was also honoured on the day.
