The story
Before being stunned by newly promoted outfit, Magesi, Orlando Pirates unveiled some merchandise for their supporters in collaboration with local brand, Old School.
Old School specialise in supporters merch, leaning heavily on vintage-style rugby jerseys and sweaters. The jersey comes in long sleeve with a white collar and matching sleeve cuffs and displays the club name on the front of it, below the vintage Pirates logo and famous number 10.
The Old School Pirates supporters knitted jersey is valued at R2 499 online, with a special retro leather ball also on offer for R1 499.
Pirates legends Teboho Moloi, Steve Lekoelea and Lucky Lekgwathi were used a muses for this campaign, with Old School revealing that the jersey is inspired the 1980s era of the Buccaneers, using a club crest from that period.
"The design pays homage to decades of triumph and the unwavering spirit of Orlando Pirates fans. Drawing inspiration from the club's evolving emblem, which in the 80s, saw the skull and crossbones revamped with a bolder shield outline," explained Old School in their product brief adding:
"the jersey embodies pride and passion that have made Pirates a household name on and off the field."
