The story
Former Bafana Bafana defender, Bongani Khumalo reserved high praise for his ex-teammate at SuperSport United and Bidvest Wits, Daine Klate.
Klate and Khumalo shared a changeroom at Matsatsantsa, winning three league titles in-a-row together under Gavin Hunt's tutelage, before reunited at the back-end of their careers at Bidvest Wits to clinch the 2016/17 crown.
Speaking during a recent interview with Robert Marawa, Khumalo mentioned how Klate was his teammate in every league-winning team he was involved in.
Khumalo has the aforementioned four league titles to him name, while Klate remains the most successful player in PSL history with six league trophies from his successful stints at Orlando Pirates, Bidvest Wits and SuperSport.
"I've never won a league title without Daine Klate. That's facts. So, fair enough, we played together at SuperSport and I left, he went to Pirates and continued to do amazing things. And then I came back, joined Wits, he was there and we sat next to each other, we sat next to each other in the changeroom for training and official games," shares Khumalo on Marawa Sports Worldwide.
"There's a certain bond that's created when you win things with people. I can't explain it, there's a comfort, there's a trust, there's a brotherhood. Even in a bad game, at half-time Daine would go, 'Today is tough, joh!' and I would say, 'Yeah, these guys have got us,' but in the second-half, I can guarantee you we're going twice as hard, because we understand the responsibility and what it takes to cross the line," said Khumalo to Marawa, adding:
"I'm so grateful to Daine. His quality, I mean look, what do I have? eight, nine goals in the PSL? I think half of those come from a Daine Klate freekick."

The legendary winger clipped Khumalo's praise of him from Marawa's show and thanked him for his kind words:
