The former AmaZulu coach is rated highly by Sundowns coach Manqoba Mngqithi who is expecting him to play an important role in the progress of the team in the PSL and the CAF Champions League respectively.
Prior to surfacing in Mzansi in 2022 for Marumo Gallants, Folz coached Township Rollers in Botswana and was lauded for improving the team on the way to a second placed finish.
When the French-Moroccan tactician was appointed in December 2021 with the team in fifth place, Bennett Mamelodi who is now the Acting Chief Executive Officer for the Botswana Football League, was Rollers' CEO.
In what may come as exciting news for Sundowns' supporters, Mamelodi opens up on how the club is likely to benefit from the 34-year-old's contribution.
"I'm very proud of Romain Folz. His progress as a coach does not surprise me. From the moment I met him and went on to work with him, I knew he was a special breed. I have never met anyone with his work ethic as well as technical and tactical prowess. Not forgetting his humility and unparalleled professionalism. His current project (Sundowns) will benefit tremendously from his inclusion into the club's technical team," said Mamelodi, speaking exclusively to the Siya crew.
