The story
Stellenbosch FC-bound star Sanele Barns proved pivotal in Richards Bay's efforts to retain their DStv Premiership status for another season.
Vusumuzi Vilakazi's troops thrashed Baroka FC 4-0 in the final PSL Promotion Playoff match at the King Zwelithini Stadium in Durban on Wednesday afternoon.
The Natal Rich Boyz claimed the emphatic win thanks to a superb brace from Somila Ntsundwana, a deflected effort from Sanele Barns, with Lwandile Mabuya adding icing to the cake in the dying minutes.
Although Richards Bay finished a disappointing campaign in 15th, going on to outdo Tuks and Baroka FC in the play-offs, Barns was one of the brightest sparks in an otherwise glum season for the Natal Rich Boyz.
After the full-time whistle, Barns was asked to address the supporters after making his last appearance for the men in sky blue.
"It hurts, I just want to thank everyone that came to support us today. As you guys know, today, I was dancing for you for the last time. So, I want to thank you for supporting me from the time I arrived here up until today. I love you all, until we meet again. This is not goodbye, we will see each other soon! Thank you," said Barns.
