Mngqithi's contract with Sundowns is due to expire at the end of June and indications are that he does not want to wait too long for the matter to be sorted out. Makaab confirmed to the Siya crew that Mngqithi would love to stay on at Chloorkop for as long as he can.
"We've had initial discussions. The truth is that I am off to meet with the club next week. I am sure that after that meeting, we will all have a clear understanding for the way forward. Manqoba has made it (clear) that should Sundowns wish to keep him, his heart is with the club. As long as he can contribute in a meaningful way, he would absolutely be happy to continue. That's where we stand at the moment and that's the absolute truth," Makaab said to the Siya crew
Asked to describe what a meaningful way means, Makaab elaborated.
"The role he has at the moment is fine for him. He is part of the technical staff and I am sure that we all agree that his experience and his character is always very important in the bigger picture. The club has to see that contribution as being important and his role as being important. As long as that's the case, he is happy to serve the club. When you talk to me about meaningful, it's the realisation of his years of experience."
