It has been two years since the 51-year-old bid farewell to Real Madrid as he continues his hiatus from football management.
A number of clubs have previously expressed an interest in Zidane becoming their manager, with the likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Juventus having been mooted as possible destinations.
However, according to France Blue Provence, it seems Olympique Marseille have done what other sides could not by successfully negotiating for the former midfielder to take the reins at the Stade Velodrome.
The Frenchman is believed to have agreed to become manager of his hometown club, but only on the condition that they are taken over by Saudi Arabia.
The Gulf nation is understood to be keen to complete a full takeover of the Olympians in attempt to restore them to their former glory, much like they have done with Newcastle United in the Premier League, but the same report claims that current Marseille owner Franck McCourt is reluctant to sell up.
Zidane is also believed to want a transfer war chest of £250 million (R6 billion) in order to facilitate his return to management, as well as full control of recruitment at the Ligue 1 team, something the Saudis have reportedly agreed to giving him should they successfully buy the club.
