Chances of a treble are out of the window for Mamelodi Sundowns, but the opportunity to win a historic double should still psyche the team up to end their recent struggles.
Sundowns have gone four matches in all competitions without a win and, during the period, were knocked out of the Nedbank Cup, ending their hopes of defending the title they won last season.

While the Nedbank Cup is a competition the club would no doubt loved to have secured, the CAF Champions League is an even bigger title that the club would jump at the chance to lift again.
The Premiership champions, however, have to end a quarterfinal jinx which has beset them over the last few seasons, to give themselves a shot at winning the continental club competition.
It will be a big test for head coach Rulani Mokwena to get the team back to winning ways, with their recent struggles seemingly having an effect on their confidence levels.
On their schedule for the quarterfinals is a CR Belouizdad side that currently sits on top of the Algerian Ligue 1, with a five point lead and two games in hand.

What should give Sundowns some hope is that Belouizdad have also had a bumpy ride recently. They have not registered a victory in their last three matches, losing one and drawing two. It means both sides go into this weekend's first leg encounter needing to bounce back, which should make for an interesting clash.
