Sekhukhune United coach Brandon Truter believes the final few games of the season will be important for the future of Tshegofatso Mabasa, but remained mum on whether the club would be interested in keeping the Orlando Pirates striker.
Mabasa's loan spell with Sekhukhune has not been the smoothest. Currently on 17 games in all competitions, the former Bloemfontein Celtic man has also celebrated rattling the back of the net on two occasions and has contributed with one assist.

The left footed number nine has been in and out of the team for different reasons and has not started a game in 2023 for the club. There is, however, some hope as he has managed to find himself in the matchday squad in the last few matches.
"There's no doubt in his quality. I am happy with what he can contribute. He has been in the squad for the last three games, where he had been out previously. His attitude has changed in terms of wanting to play and showing up at training in terms of what he gives us. The quality is there," Truter said to the Siya crew.
"He came on in the previous game and tried to bring a new dimension to his game, but at the same time he is a loan player and has to go back to his mother club and we also keep that in mind when making decisions in terms of who is playing, especially going into the (final) five league games and especially with the amount of players we have in training."
It's unclear, at this stage, if Sekhukhune will make an effort to keep him beyond the end of this season.

"With loan players, if they perform throughout the season, it's always down to the mother club. They hold the contract and they make the decisions in terms of their objectives for next season. We can't force anything, but we will say thank you for loaning him for the season. At this stage, he is doing well. His contribution in these last five games will say a lot. I have no problem with his training and his attitude or mentality. From my side, he is a good player and human to work with. From my side, it's only down to performance."
