Shakira States She’s “Too Good” For Pique In Fiery Track

After splitting up in June last year, Shakira debuted a new song where she seemingly takes a dig at her ex-partner Gerard Pique.

What's the story?

Gerard Pique's final year of being a professional footballer was marred with off-field drama, as he and Latin pop sensation Shakira split up after a 12-year relationship.

To add fuel to the fire, Shakira released an upbeat track with an Argentinian DJ Bizarap, where she launches a number of concealed attacks at Pique and appeared to take aim at his current 23-year-old girlfriend.

Shakira shades Pique in new song

After a shock break-up in June last year, Shakira and Pique have had plenty to deal with in the aftermath of their more than decade-long relationship.

The duo only reached a custody agreement for their two sons in November last year according to Harper's Bazaar, and the Colombian singer is facing tax evasion charges in Spain after being accused of failing to pay over 14 million euros (R255.4 million) between 2012 and 2014.

On the fiery tune, Shakira sings in Spanish about living next to her in-laws and addresses her tax evasion battle with the Spanish government:

"You left me the in-laws as my neighbors, media outlets at my door and in debt with the Treasury. You thought you hurt me, but you made me stronger/ Women don't cry anymore, they cash in."

Shakira's song was done with Argentine hitmaker Bizarrap, and is titled "BZRP Music Session #53 where she also shades Pique's current girlfriend Clara Chia Marti:

"Sorry, baby, I should have thrown you out a while ago / A she-wolf like me is not for rookies / A she-wolf like me is not for guys like you / For guys like you / I'm too good for you and that's why you're with someone just like you."

She also dropped heated lines such as:

"Lots of gym work but work your mind as well."

"You swapped a Ferrari for a Twingo (a Renault) / a Rolex for a Casio," she added.

Pique and Shakira's romance kicked-off back in 2010, a big year for the both of them as the retired lanky defender won the FIFA World Cup with Spain in South Africa, and Shakira worked on the smash hit "Waka Waka (This Time For Africa)" - which has gone down as one of the most iconic World Cup songs to date...

The duo stunned the public after breaking-up, with tabloid reports indicating that Pique was unfaithful to the Colombian hitmaker - who mentioned to Elle Magazine how she made plenty of career-altering sacrifices for the ex-Barca and Manchester United player, in order for him to continue his career in Spain.
