The big reason behind Kaizer Chiefs reuniting with Italian sportswear company Kappa has been revealed.
Chiefs recently announced that they have signed a five-year contract with Kappa as their official technical sponsor and licensing partner from the 2023/24 season.
There has been suggestions, at face value, that Amakhosi have downgraded their product after parting ways with United States fashionable sportswear manufacturer Nike.

However, Chiefs Marketing and Commercial Director Jessica Motaung revealed that Kappa, in addition to having a strong distribution network locally, would also be making a significant investment in the team financially.
"The key thing for us in considering the partnership with Kappa as well was the fact that they have developed locally, a wonderful and strong and very grassroots, very extensive distribution network," Motaung said in an interview on Metro FM Sports.
"So that's one of the things that was very key, accessibility of our products and for the number of supporters that we have is very critical to make sure that every Chiefs supporter can get access to the jersey and that was a critical point in making the decision to go with Kappa.
"And also various other investments that they are making into the club both financially and also in terms of the product," she said.
"A financial investment which is very substantial, I'm also looking at the extensive lifestyle range that they are putting down."
Motaung was asked whether Chiefs would be making more money from the deal compared to Nike and although she did not reference the American sportswear giant in her reply, she revealed that the agreement with Kappa is "extensively lucrative" and could change the landscape on how kit deals are done.
"Look, let's just say, a very lucrative deal, an extensively lucrative deal and structured in a very unique way," Motaung said.
"And one that can change the trajectory of how kit deals are done, let's say that," she added.

Chiefs could be boosted in acquiring the best players after losing out on some of the most sought after players to Mamelodi Sundowns in recent years.
The Glamour Boys were linked with top players such as Teboho Mokoena, Sipho Mbule, Abubaker Nasir and recently Terrence Mashego, who were all acquired by Sundowns seemingly due to their strong spending power.
