Despite claiming a narrow 1-0 victory in the Egyptian Premier League on the weekend, new Al Ahly head coach Marcel Koller believes his side still has a lot to improve.
Osimhen Helps Napoli Make History Against Mourinho
The Club of the Century kept their 100% start to the league season intact after they overcame newly promoted Aswan in their first home game of the campaign.
While Tunisia star Ali Maaloul put the Red Devils up from the penalty spot in the 17th minute, it was not plain sailing for the record Egyptian champions as they just edged the result, something the Swiss tactician was not pleased about.
"We had more missed passes alongside losing more score chances during the game," Koller said during a post-match press conference, as per Ahram Online.
"We need to do more work to improve the players' concentration during the coming games to avoid the continued missed passes and to avoid losing the big number of scoring chances.
"Every player on the pitch has to concentrate during the game, but finally we achieved the victory and I am happy with it."
The fixture also saw the return of South Africa star Percy Tau following a lengthy injury lay-off, although the attacker got just nine minutes of action as a substitute.
The victory also sees Al Ahly keep pace with bitter rivals Zamalek in the league standings, who also happen to be their next opponents in the Egyptian Super Cup.
Tau could see more minutes in that titanic fixture, with Koller having stated how keen he is to utilise his squad depth.
"I do not prefer to think about any next game before finishing the ongoing mission as the current game is more important than the next," the head coach of the record African champions added.
"We have a big squad and it is better for the team to make changes.
