Siphiwe Tshabalala Has Spoken About His Kaizer Chiefs Form
Siphiwe Tshabalala knows all about longevity. The 32-year-old has played +30 games in all of the last five seasons and will do so again this year.   Watch: Komphela Won't Blame Bad Luck
Despite regularly having been written off by members of the South African football fraternity, 'Shabba' and his left foot have managed to stay relevant and crucial under several different Amakhosi head coaches, something that has carried on under Steve Komphela.   Now, with the former Bafana Bafana international sitting as the club's top scorer in 2016/17, he says that his family life is part of the reason for his continued success.   The veteran midfielder told Chiefs' official website, "I am happy at home. My wife Bokang is very supportive, she's really there for me. My son, Owethu Temo, also brings me tremendous joy. I shouldn't forget my teammates as well. We support each other a lot."   'Shabba' has bagged seven goals for Chiefs so far this season, his highest tally since scoring the same amount in the 2010/11 campaign, but he's pretty sure of the one of which he's most proud.   When asked about his best year with the Glamour Boys, he replied, "On a personal level, I would say the 2008/2009 season when we won the MTN8. I won all the Kaizer Chiefs awards at the end of the season, including the Player of the Season, Players' Player of the Season, Goal of the Season, Top Goalscorer of the Season, the Amakhosi Readers' Choice of the Season and the Amakhosi Online Player of the Season."   With 53 Chiefs goals to his name over the years, Tshabalala has certainly marked his name in the club's history books, but which is his favourite?   He said, "It's difficult to single out one. However, for me, the most important was my first goal. That came in the 2007 Telkom Knockout quarterfinal against SuperSport United when I scored the match-winner. It helped us go to the semis. We actually went on to win the Telkom Knockout that season."
