Kaizer Chiefs have appeared to struggle again in their pursuit of a goalkeeping target despite plans to land the player's signature in January.
Because of the team's goalkeeping problems in the first round of the season as Amakhosi had been conceding goals and were inconsistent with the results, Chippa United and Nigeria number one Stanley Nwabali emerged as a target again for the Soweto giants.

With Chiefs having signed Fiacre Ntwari from TS Galaxy prior to the start of the season as veteran goalkeeper Itumeleng Khune moved on, the Rwandan struggled with apparent loss of form and has since lost his place in coach Nasreddine Nabi's team after he started the campaign as the club's number one.
Bruce Bvuma has appeared to have taken over as the number one, having played in the last six Betway Premiership matches and kept a clean sheet on two of them, with Ntwari relegated to the bench.
As indicated by sources, there had been plans for a swap deal for Ntwari and Nwabali between Chiefs and Chippa although it now seems there could be complications involving money.

"The thing is that Chippa have their price for Nwabali and any club that is interested to sign him has to meet Chippa's evaluation of the player. Even if it's going to be a swap deal, there is a financial side of things that needs to be met because Nwabali is an AFCON finalist and the number one for Nigeria and Chippa won't budge," said the source.
Before the start of the season when Nwabali was strongly linked with a move to Chiefs for the first time, the Chilli Boys were said to be looking for a transfer fee of around R30 million for the 28-year-old.
