Maritzburg United and Gift of the Givers have given more details on their new partnership.
The Team of Choice have been facing a financial crisis due to the Covid-19 pandemic and the new partnership with the humanitarian foundation aims to assist the club in promoting the brand.
"There's no money exchange here. The only important thing is a two-way benefit. The team needs to get the support and recognition to allow Give of the Gifters outreach to the sport fraternity, especially football, and across Africa," Kadodia said, addressing media at the announcement on Tuesday.
"This deal will add value, people will benefit from it. I think long term, the sponsorship deals will happen, but our short term is to sacrifice - and the foundation is recognised worldwide."
Kadodia admitted that the club is still not out of its financial crisis, but they are hopeful that with their new partnership, they can attract sponsors to inject money into the club.
"Look, it hasn't changed our financial state because right now there's no financial gain. People will find it hard to understand this kind of partnership.
"It is important that we understand that right now, we need to make the team and players happy. To sustain everything, we need R25 million to sustain a club per season. In the long term, if we get a sponsor, we would like to keep players for a longer (time)."
The founder of the Gift of the Givers, Dr Imtiaz Sooliman is also hopeful that the sacrifices made by Maritzburg will see the see sponsors invest in the club.
"We are a foundation and we don't really look at the profits. The more businesses that get involved, the more money we will get. My prayer is if the club can offer you an opportunity to be associated with them, they can get a sponsor to invest in this club that has produced top players," said Sooliman at the event.
"Look at Bongokuhle Hlongwane and if Maritzburg United can get more sponsors, they can protect the local talent," he added.
