Renowned agent Jazzman Mahlakgane, who represents some of the top players in Mzansi, has commented on a goalkeeper whose future has appeared to hang in the balance.
After making only four appearances in Swallows' DStv Premiership campaign, goalkeeper Virgil Vries has been linked with an exit from the club, though the Namibian international has been disrupted by injury in his progress this season.
The former Kaizer Chiefs goalkeeper's current contract with Swallows is set to come to an end in June, and indications are that the 30-year-old could be affected by changes likely to take place at the club after a difficult season due to inconsistent results.
Mahlakgane told the Siya crew that the focus of the experienced player is on recovering from injury, with the representative not keen to entertain any talk of the shot-stopper possibly leaving the Gauteng-based club.
"Virgil Vries is injured and that's all I can tell you. He is going under the knife to recover from his injury," said Mahlakgane.
Vries has been out of action since September, having started in four of the team's opening five matches of the season in the league, as well as in three other matches in the MTN8.
Last season, as Swallows returned to the topflight after winning automatic promotion from the GladAfrica Championship, Vries was one of the top players under the club's former coach Brandon Truter with 23 appearances.
Vries had six cleansheets as Swallows was let down by finishing the season with a whopping 20 draws to add to their eight wins as they ended in 6th place on the log.
