As Hugo Broos looks to widen his pool of players for Bafana Bafana, the coach has revealed that he won't call-up any of the Mamelodi Sundowns stars for friendly internationals later this year.
The Belgian announced a 23-man squad for the upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Lesotho and Benin and, as usual, he has Sundowns stars in the team, with nine of them selected for the matches on March 21 and 25.

Ronwen Williams, Aubrey Modiba, Khuliso Mudau, Grant Kekana, Teboho Mokoena, Jayden Adams, Bathusi Aubass, Thapelo Morena and Iqraam Rayners are all in the current squad, but they should not expect to be part of the team for the friendly internationals in June.
This is because Broos is trying to increase his pool of players for the senior national team, to ensure that he has enough depth. With Sundowns also set to participate in the FIFA Club World Cup during that period, Broos will get a chance to see more players, especially with the Africa Cup of Nations coming at the end of the year.

"There are other players who are on the list. I will use the friendlies in June to call those players and to leave as much as possible, the usuals (out). Certainly, the guys of Sundowns I will not select them in June," the coach said after announcing his squad on Thursday afternoon.
"I told the coach already, to prepare for the (Club) World Cup. We will call other younger players. We will play Tanzania and maybe also we will play against Namibia. I will use those two games to put those young ones and we will see what happens," said Broos.
