Sundowns Will Have To Break Transfer Record For Chiefs Target

Sundowns Will Have To Break Transfer Record For Chiefs Target

Insiders in both South Africa and Tanzania have indicated that Sundowns are prepared to go the extra mile to secure the highly-rated midfielder.

As previously reported by Soccer Laduma, Azam FC have placed a USD $10 million (approximately R183 million) buyout clause on Salum for a move outside Tanzania.

The Siya sources have since suggested that the Brazilians would be pushing for the Tanzania national team star, but the buyout clause is expected to be high and it remains to be seen if a compromise can be reached on the price tag going forward.

"It's true Sundowns are willing to sign Feisal (Salum) and if they are to succeed in doing that then it will mean they have to break the record transfer fee. You know Azam FC are believed to be looking at R183 million? That's a lot but it will depend on the talks between the two clubs. But Sundowns have shown the intention to sign him at the start of next season," the Siya source stated.

Additionally, a second insider mentioned that Sundowns' representatives are believed to have traveled to Tanzania to watch Salum closely.

"Apparently it's believed that Sundowns' officials went to Tanzania to see how the deal would work and also watch the player in action as they assess his performance and where he would fit in at the club. But they are believed to be really invested in signing him for next season," the second insider stated.

The 27-year-old midfielder is reportedly wanted not only by Chiefs and Sundowns, but also by clubs within Tanzania and North Africa.

The Siya crew contacted Sundowns for comment but the club had not responded by the time this report was published.

Soccer Laduma also reached out to Azam FC media officer Hasheem Ibwe, who was unavailable for comment at the time of preparing this story.
