It has been reported that an English Premier League player who previously won the coveted CAF African Footballer of the Year award is no-where to found. Do you know what happened?
Riyad Mahrez was one of the shining stars during Leicester City's golden season where they went on to claim Premier League glory in what is now considered by many as one of the most unbelievable occurrences in league history.
During that time, the Algerian was on the tip of everyone's tongue and was nominated for a bevy of individual awards. However, Leicester were unable to hold on to the title and went on to finish the next season in the bottom half of the table.
Since then, the star has been angling for a move away from the Foxes, and although it had been reported that the likes of Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola was interested in signing the midfielder, the January window closed and the player stayed put.
Reports are claiming that even after the 26-year-old handed in a transfer request, the club were unwilling to sell him, which has left him in a dejected state.
Mahrez has now failed to show up to two of the Foxes training sessions and is reported to have gone AWOL, with nobody knowing his whereabouts - even prompting English news station the BBC to post a concerned tweet.
