Kaizer Chiefs have scored 21 goals in total to date in the Absa Premiership league this season. Looking at the goal stats for Amakhosi, it accumulatively rounds off to the Glamour boys scoring at least one goal per game in the 25 games that they have played so far.
This has been a major concern for the Amakhosi faithful and one of our Supporters Club members and Chiefs fan, khosibybirth548 has explained what he thinks is contributing to the Phefeni boys' poor scoring form in the current campaign.
"There's nothing wrong with our strikers, the problem is Steve Komphela's selection. One, When the team requires an injection of new ideas during a match, he pulls out a strike, like-for-like, instead of tweaking the midfield. Ekstein is good driving the team forward, however, the only player who can develop into a creative genius, Ntshangase, is benched.
The team uses wing backs but flies with one wing because Zulu doesn't give us the class on the left. As a result, a player like Rama is overworked. If the coach can play Shabba on the left, that would create a balance between the two flanks. Drop Zulu and in the place of Shabba in the middle, give Ntshangase a run with Ekstein. That would mean that the force of Ekstein would combine with the football brains of Ntshangase, which is what Chiefs need.
In the front line, either Jayiya or Zuma should start with Castro. Ensure that they do all the dirty work that Castro is currently doing. It is feeble for Castro to be crossing balls when he should be in the 18-area finishing. Start Moon on the bench because he and Castro together is a duplication.
Anyone who understands football can probably see that Moon instils no confidence whenever he tries to run to the side. Zuma or Jayiya can do that function. So the starting 11 would be, Khune, Mathoho, Cardoso, Radebe, Shabba, Rama, Katsande, Ekstein, Ntshangase, Zuma and Castro. Then I will believe that Steve is playing an attacking 3-5-2 formation."
