"We cannot blame Chiefs for the referee's mistakes. We have also scored legitimate goals before that (and) were disallowed which happened to prove costly..."
These were the sentiments of Kaizer Chiefs fan @Tikzoe1 who came to his side's defence after they were labelled a brown envelope team by some opposition fans.
The claims come after Chiefs' 1-0 win over hoodoo side Baroka FC. Lebogang Manyama slotted home after Elvis Chipezeze spilled Lazarous Kambole's shot.
Television replays suggest that the Zambian might have been offside when Khama Billiat crossed the ball to him.
The assistant referee saw nothing wrong with Kambole's positioning and allowed the goal to stand, much to the frustration of SL supporter Khayelihlekhaya.
"Yoooooo hayi PSL referees and their linesman, I wash my hands, they are going to sell the league title, I am telling you. As a linesman, how can you say Kambole was not offside? The offside that resulted in a goal…"
The decision has been met with mixed emotions by fans and @Mosesmu is of the opinion that perhaps VAR should be introduced to the PSL to alleviate these mistakes.
"Back-to-back wins for Chiefs, courtesy of (the) referee's benefit. Kambole was clearly offside before Manyama scored from a rebound. Time to have VAR in the PSL. Either way, congratulations on getting 3 points."
While some Chiefs fans like @Honestkhosi feel that their team should not be blamed for refereeing errors and that the match officials should be held accountable for making these costly mistakes.
"Honestly, these officials must be held accountable for their errors and mistakes. Kaizer Chiefs cannot be the subject of brown-envelope talk every week."
