Soccer Laduma has been reliably informed that Stellenbosch FC defender Olwethu Makhanya is set for a European assessment in March this year.
Back in November, the Siya crew reported that Makhanya had been tied down to a new five-year (three years plus two-year option) deal by Stellies following his rapid rise at the Cape Winelands outfit.
With his stock continuing to rise, this publication has subsequently been informed that the 18-year-old is set to make his way to Europe, where he will undergo assessment with two unnamed clubs in Portugal and Netherlands.

According to Siya sources, Stellies are open to the possibility of losing the lanky defender to a club abroad as he looks to take the next step in his career.
According to information made available to the crew, Makhanya, who has made 15 appearances for coach Steve Barker's side in all competitions this season, is contracted to the side until June 2025, meaning that if he were to impress in Europe, any interested club would have to negotiate a transfer fee with Stellenbosch if they are to land his services.
Makhanya's bright performances have seen him included in the recently announced preliminary squad for the two-legged U23 Afcon qualifier against Congo, alongside teammates Athenkosi Mcaba, Devin Titus, Antonio van Wyk and Jayden Adams.

Soccer Laduma reached out to the player's representative Nimrod Mbhalati, who confirmed that there was interest from abroad in the youngster.
"There are few people we're talking to from Europe with regards to the boy, but he is contracted to Stellenbosch FC and fully focused on the team. So, if something happens, I believe the team will be the first to announce it," he revealed.
