Starting XI: Stellenbosch v Swallows

Swallows will be in a fight to save their DStv Premiership status when they visit Stellenbosch on Saturday evening.

DStv Premiership

Teams: Stellenbosch FC v Swallows FC

Date: 22 April 2023

Venue: Danie Craven Stadium

Time: 17h30

Swallows floated just above the relegation zone after collecting four points from their last two matches courtesy of a narrow win over AmaZulu and a morale-boosting goalless draw against champions Mamelodi Sundowns.

The Birds are precariously lying 14th on the table, just two points clear of the relegation zone and will have a chance to go five points clear of danger.

As for Stellenbosch, they placated their league worries after knocking out defending champions Sundowns in the Nedbank Cup quarter-finals last weekend and made it through to the semi-finals.

The Cape Winelands outfit, however, have lost back-to-back league matches against Kaizer Chiefs and Royal AM and will be motivated to bounce back.

Steve Barker's charges dropped down to 11th on the table and are not completely safe from relegation worries yet, as they are four points above 15th-placed Chippa United, they could also be overtaken by Swallows if they lose and also not far from the top eight, just two points shy.

Swallows will have a score to settle after Stellies knocked them out of the Nedbank Cup and also beat them 2-1 in the reverse fixture after Sinethemba Mngomezulu opened the scoring for the Western Cape side and Junior Mendieta rescued Vusi Sibiya, who scored an own goal for the Birds, with the winner.
