Royal AM have registered just one win in their last five matches across all competitions, which included a 1-1 draw away to TS Galaxy last weekend.
John Maduka's charges currently sit in ninth position but a win or a draw will take them into the top eight.
The KwaZulu-Natal side come up against a City side, who extended their winless run to four matches in the league after losing 2-1 to Orlando Pirates seven days ago.
The four-game winless run all but ended the Citizens' hopes of finishing in the top three this season.
Eric Tinkler will welcome back midfielder Brice Ambina, who missed the loss to the Buccaneers through suspension.
The Citizens defeated Royal AM 2-1 earlier in the season, while the KZN side were victorious in a penalty shoot-out in the Nedbank Cup in February.
