Orlando Pirates will have a chance to reclaim second place in the DStv Premiership when they host Cape Town City on Saturday afternoon
DStv Premiership
Teams: Orlando Pirates v Cape Town City
Date: 22 April 2023
Venue: Orlando Stadium
Time: 19h30
Pirates are in a good run of form, although they booked their spot in the semi-finals of the Nedbank Cup via penalty shootouts against third-tier side Dondol Stars, following a 1-1 draw in extra-time last weekend.
The Buccaneers have won their last four matches in the league and after second-placed SuperSport United dropped points on Tuesday against Marumo Gallants, lying third on the log, Pirates will have a chance to leapfrog United by two points if they get maximum points.
The Citizens, on the other hand, are bidding to finish their season in the top eight and extended their unbeaten run to six matches, although they surrendered a two-goal lead to draw 2-2 with AmaZulu before the cup weekend.
City, who are sit fifth on the table, will be without Brice Ambina and Thabo Nodada after they got red-cards in the previous two matches, against Mamelodi Sundowns and Usuthu, respectively.
Pirates will be wary of the Citizens who will be chasing a league double after they upset the Soweto giants 2-1 in the first round thanks to goals from behind by Juan Zapata and Darwin Gonzalez in early January.
