Starting XI: Maritzburg v Gallants

Marumo Gallants will switch their focus to the battle of saving their DStv Premiership status when they visit direct rivals Maritzburg United on Wednesday evening.

DStv Premiership

Teams: Maritzburg United v Marumo Gallants

Date: 03 May 2023

Venue: Harry Gwala Stadium

Time: 19h30

Gallants created their own piece of history after qualifying for the CAF Confederation semi-finals following their 2-1 aggregate win over Egyptian side Pyramids.

Bahlabane Ba Ntwa's run in the second tier continental tournament has somewhat strengthened them in the league, as they are unbeaten in seven matches after playing to a goalless draw against SuperSport United two weeks ago.

However, the Limpopo side, despite getting out of the relegation, are not completely out of danger, lying 14th on the table, just three points above bottom side Maritzburg, making this encounter a six-pointer.

The Team of Choice, meanwhile, only managed to get one point from their last three matches after a last-gasp 1-0 loss to Swallows last Thursday.

United remained at the bottom of the table and can't afford to drop more points if they want to remain in the Premiership.

Maritzburg will be encouraged that they edged Gallants 1-0 in the first round clash after a late own goal by Tshepo Gumede in January this year.

Here's how they line up:

Maritzburg United: 31. Ndlovu, 3. De Goede, 22. Theron, 14. Meza, 27. Ndengane, 2. Cross, 5. Makume, 11. Soukouna, 23. Moloisane, 10. Human, 26. Kimvuidi
