Mamelodi Sundowns will be seeking to end their winless run in the DStv Premiership when they host Richards Bay on Tuesday afternoon.
DStv Premiership
Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Richards Bay FC
Date: 25 April 2023
Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium
Time: 15h00
Sundowns restored their aura of invincibility after putting one foot in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League with a 4-1 thrashing of Belouizdad in the quarter-final first-leg away this past Saturday.
However, the Brazilians are winless in four domestic games after they were dumped out of the Nedbank Cup by Stellenbosch the last time out.
The Tshwane giants' hopes of breaking their own record of 71 points set in the 2015-16 season are still alive, as they can reach a maximum of 74 points if they win all their remaining four matches.
Sundowns will be without midfielder Teboho Mokoena due to suspension after he picked up his fourth booking against Stellies.
Richards Bay, meanwhile, are chasing a top-eight finish and will be encouraged after they halted their seven-game losing streak with a 1-1 draw against relegation-threatened Maritzburg United.
The Natal Rich Boyz are placed tenth on the table, just a point off the top eight spots.
Richards Bay will also be missing a key player in midfield, formerly with Orlando Pirates, Abel Mabaso due to suspension after he got red-carded in a narrow defeat against Golden Arrows.
Sundowns will be looking to complete a league double over the Natal Rich Boyz after beating them 2-0 in the first round courtesy of goals by Cassius Mailula and Haashim Domingo in early January.
