Mamelodi Sundowns will hold the DStv Premiership fate of Maritzburg United when the sides clash in their final game of the season on Tuesday evening at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.
DStv Premiership
Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v Maritzburg United
Date: 16 May 2023
Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium
Time: 19h30
Sundowns' final league game has been brought forward as they will be competing in the CAF Champions League semi-final second-leg against Wydad Casablanca on Saturday, when all the Premiership teams will complete their campaign.
The Brazilians earned a goalless draw against Wydad in the first-leg this past weekend and return to the domestic league after beating relegation-threatened Marumo Gallants 2-0 the last time out.
Sundowns will have a chance to break their own record of 71 points they set in the 2015-16 season under former coach Pitso Mosimane if they get maximum points.
The Tshwane giants have two players suspended for this tie, Aubrey Modiba and Mothobi Mvala.
Meanwhile, Peter Shalulile has been rested completely for the tie and won't have the chance to add to his 12 goals in the league, which sees sit level with Cape Town City's Khanyiso Mayo, who faces Kaizer Chiefs on Saturday.

As for Maritzburg, they will be playing for their lives as they gave themselves a lifeline after edging Stellenbosch 1-0 this past weekend, which was their first win in five matches.
The Team of Choice remained at the bottom of the log but crucially moved level on points with 15th-placed Chippa United and Marumo Gallants, who are lying 14th on the log.
United will be virtually relegated if they lose against Sundowns, especially by a big margin and a draw or a win will give them hopes of survival, depending on the results of Chippa and Gallants in their final matches over the weekend.
Maritzburg will not want to remember their first round clash with the Brazilians after they were hammered 5-0, with Cassius Mailula and Haashim Domingo scoring twice and another goal scored by Thapelo Morena, in Rulani Mokwena's first game as a head coach back in October last year.
