Mamelodi Sundowns will be seeking to confirm their spot in the semi-finals of the CAF Champions League when they host Belouizdad on Saturday afternoon.
CAF Champions League
Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v CR Belouizdad
Date: 29 April 2023
Venue: Loftus Versfeld Stadium
Time: 15h00
Sundowns produced a commanding performance in the first-leg after thumping the Algerian side 4-1 away last weekend thanks to a brace by Peter Shalulile and a goal apiece by Neo Maema and Cassius Mailula.
The Brazilians will be on a high after they also ended their four-game winless run in the domestic league after edging Richards Bay 1-0 on Tuesday thanks to a rocket by Thapelo Morena.
Rulani Mokwena's charges have one foot in the semi-finals, with their four away goals and a three-goal lead and will progress even if they lose by three goals or less.
Belouizdad, meanwhile, have not played in the domestic league since their 4-1 thrashing by Sundowns and need to win by a four-goal margin to progress to the semi-finals.
The winner between the sides will meet Wydad Casablanca in the semi-finals after the Moroccan giants edged Simba on penalties after a 1-1 draw on aggregate.
The Great Chabab can take encouragement from the fact that they beat Sundowns 2-0 at the same ground two years ago in a group stage clash.
Here's how they line up:
Mamelodi Sundowns: Williams, Boutouil, Mvala, Mudau, Modiba, Mokoena, Mbule, Maema, Zwane, Shalulile, Morena.
Subs: D.Onyango, De Reuck, Lebusa, Zungu, Sirino, Kutumela, Mkhulise, Mashego, Maboe
