Sundowns Name Starting XI To Face AS FAR

Mamelodi Sundowns will be looking to seal a spot in the quarter-finals of the CAF Champions League when they host AS FAR Rabat in the last group game on Sunday evening at Loftus Versfeld Stadium.

CAF Champions League

Teams: Mamelodi Sundowns v AS FAR Rabat

Date: 19 January 2025

Venue: Loftus Versfeld

Time: 18h00

Sundowns bounced back after a 1-0 upset by Raja Casablanca, after coming from behind to beat Stade d'Abidjan 2-1 thanks to an inspired substitute Peter Shalulile last weekend in their penultimate match of Group B.

The Brazilians virtually booked their spot in the quarter-finals after they found themselves in second spot, three points clear of third-placed Green Eagles.

Miguel Cardoso's charges need at least a point to guarantee qualification.

AS FAR, on the other hand, went through to the last eight with a game to spare as a 1-1 draw against Raja was enough.

The Militarians are top of the group, one point ahead of Sundowns and will be hoping to finish top of the section.

The sides played to a 1-1 draw in the first round clash after Iqraam Rayners' second-half goal for Masandawana was cancelled out Mohamed Hrimat.

Here's how they line up:

Mamelodi Sundowns: Williams, Khoza, Kekana, Lunga, Mokoena, Allende, Mkhulise, Morena, Ribeiro, Rayners, Shalulile

Subs: Onyango, Lebusa, Sales, Maema, Mashego, Lethlaku, Matthews, Johannes, Maboe
