The 24-year-old has scored two goals and his performances haven't gone unnoticed, with the Buccaneers now believed to have been following his progress.
Matsheke signed for one season when he joined Stellies although the club does have an option to extend the deal by another year.
"Pirates are monitoring Darrel Matsheke's progress at Stellenbosch. The club (Pirates) is in search of a holding midfielder to add to the squad for next season and Darrel's name has come up as a potential signing," a source close to Pirates revealed.
